2010 Drumbeg Residents Association
27th Annual Show

There are some new classes and changes in the sections from last year's programme.

Section 1 – Cut Flowers
Except where stated otherwise flowers may be annual, biennial, or perennial.
A vase is an open container of any material suitable for holding exhibits.

Class No.
1. One vase containing three stems of flowers of one kind.
2. One vase containing three flower heads of hydrangeas
3. One vase containing three blooms of dahlias of any one variety, one colour or mixed.
4. One container not exceeding six inches (15 cm) in diameter of mixed heathers.
5. One vase containing three stems of flowering or ornamental shrubs, trees or bushes of one kind or mixed.

Section 2 – Pot Plants
A pot may be a bowl or a vessel of any material

Class No.
6. One pot of flowering begonias.
7. One pot of flowering pelargonium or geranium.
8. One pot of cactus or succulent.
9. One pot plant other than varieties shown above.

Section 3 – Roses

Class No.
10. One vase containing three blooms of any variety of rose
11. The Rose of Drumbeg – One specimen bloom

Section 4 – Fruit and Vegetables

Class No.
12. Five potatoes of one kind.
13. Three onions grown from sets.
14. Five pods of runner or French beans.
15. Three globe beetroot.
16. One plant of parsley grown in the pot
17. One head of lettuce
18. One cucumber
19. Five tomatoes of one kind
20. Three apples (cooking or eating)
21. Any other vegetable
22. Any other fruit
23. Any fruit or vegetable of unusual size or shape.
24. One pot with a herb or herbs

Section 5 – Floral Art

Class No.
25. Say it with roses – Roses in a formal container. Rose foliage only to be used. Not to exceed 45 x 45 cms, (18 x18 inches).
26. An arrangement in a basket
27. Country garden – Any arrangement - not to exceed 60 x 60 cms, (24 x 24 ins).
28. Any theme of own choice - not to exceed 60 x 60 cms (24 x24 ins).
29. An arrangement – Not to exceed 60 cms by 60 cms (24 x 24 ins). You may use grasses, seed heads, flowers etc. If you wish you may include an accessory.

Section 6 – Young People 12 years and under.
Must be own work. Age will be displayed beside the exhibit.

30. 6 small buns.
31. Home made card.
32. A photograph. To do with your family or your toys. No larger than A5. No frames, please put your name, age and address on the back.
33. An arrangement made of wild flowers leaves or grasses etc.
34. Artwork (painting, model etc.)
35. Make a character or animal using any combination of flowers, fruit, grasses, vegetables. Name your exhibit.
36. A miniature scene on a plate (not exceeding 30 cm, suggested themes, a garden, sport, science, space etc)

Section 7– Home Baking and Preserves

Class No.
37. 6 cherry scones
38. Loaf of wheaten bread
39. Madeira cake. For recipe click here. NB. Madeira cake is never filled with jam and cream so if you read this please leave it unfilled. Our judge will judge any filled ones that appear on the quality of the cake and will ignore the filling. Apologies.
40. Plate of tray bakes - any variety
41. Carrot cake may be iced or not.
42. Open class - You bake it, we judge it.
43. Pot of chutney
44. Pot of raspberry jam. (In 2011 it will be a - Pot of strawberry jam)
45. Pot of jam - any variety

Section 8– Photography

Class No.
46. A photograph of an area of your garden or a plant in your garden. No larger than A5. No frames, please put your name and address on the back.

Section 9 – Craft

Class No.
47. Home made card
48. Embroidery. The item must have been finished within the
last 2 years.
49. Knitted scarf. For instructions click here. All entries in this category will be donated to a charity for distribution not for selling.
50. Scarf. Any pattern or design. All entries in this category will be donated to a charity for distribution not for selling.
51. Toy, knitted, fabric, wood or materials of your own choice.

Rules and Conditions
1) Except in floral art, young persons’ section, or where otherwise indicated in the programme, all exhibits must have been grown or made by the exhibitor, amateur status only. Entries may be made on behalf of another person. The term grown will be taken to mean produced from seed, bulb, corm, slip or transplant and
nurtured by the exhibitor for a period of at least two months prior to the date of the exhibition. A pot plant will be deemed to have been grown if acquired and nurtured by the exhibitor for the same length of time.
2) Except in floral art or young persons’ classes, no person may submit more than three entries in any one class.
3) There will be a charge of 25p for each entry made in any class.
4) Trophies will be awarded as follows:

Drumbeg Residents’ Association Flower Cup - Best exhibit in the Show excluding Young Persons’ classes.

Drumbeg Cup - Best exhibit in Young Persons’ section.

Drumbeg Vegetable Cup - Best Fruit or Vegetable.

Mark Crowe Cup - Floral Art

Rose of Drumbeg - Special Class Prize

DRA Jubilee Cup - Judge’s choice from the non cup winners.

The Farris Cup - Best in Home Baking and Preserves.

5) Certificates will be awarded for first place in each Class.
6) The Judge’s decision shall be final.
7) All exhibits to be staged between 10:00 am and 12 noon. Judging to commence at 12 noon.
8) No person other than the judge and the committee appointee required by him for administration purposes shall be in the Hall whilst judging is taking place.
9) Classes are numbered serially throughout.
Cards will be provided for each exhibit entered, and exhibitors are responsible for completing the card as required, where
possible naming the variety of the item entered and staging the exhibit in the proper class.
10) The Exhibition Hall will be open at 2.00 pm for public viewing of exhibits and will remain open until 4.00 pm.
11) The Committee will take every precaution to ensure safe keeping of exhibits, but neither the Committee, the Association nor the Church Authorities will accept any responsibility for loss or damage to exhibits or be liable for any compensation in
respect of exhibits or personal property, lost, damaged, stolen etc.
12) Exhibitors are asked to cooperate by leaving exhibits in place until 3:30 pm.
13) Eligibility to exhibit is restricted to Residents and Members of Local Clubs and Societies.

2:00 pm Hall open for viewing
3:00 pm Prize presentation

Car Parking around the Hall is limited. In the interests of safety and courtesy the Association would be grateful if as many visitors to the show as possible could use the Drum Bridge Car Park.
